As I am sure this is said often, excuse the redundancy; we are all called to the Missions field. I have been given a directive to go out and share the hope that is Jesus, to go out and make disciples of all Nations.
Everyday, we are on the Missions field, on the battleground, in our lives and the lives of all those around us. So how was I called to the Missions Field? I was commanded, purposed, and contrary to the sign above, I was born into and have lived in the field all my life. We all have, and with that I have also chosen to be an active participant in the Mission. On the other hand, how was I called to THIS Missions Field? You might have to read my words above again, but, I never did give much thought to doing something like this, going out to a foreign country as a missionary for a year, no not at all. I honestly still get random discouraging thoughts of the like…’what are you doing, what are you thinking?’…and really not because I can’t see myself doing this, on the contrary, I think more as a result of me trying to give up self.
Nonetheless, I am totally excited about the opportunity, a chance to learn a little more about this world we live in and the many peoples in it, to reach beyond myself and just reach out. To understand in a new way what the disciples did and what it means to give up all and follow Him. Don’t get it twisted though, for there are also needs right here in the States, just not always outright obvious. However, for me, with all my questions and requests for a renewed passion and sense of purpose, He gave me this trip…
I have a friend that was on one of teams last year, and I got to follow a little through the year, the many countries, pictures, videos and stories of God’s grace and magnificence. Somehow I believe He has chosen and continues to confirm this Missions trip as where He wants me at this point in my life, with growing expectations on my end, bringing about that more focused direction in my life.
