Hey Guys! So I just wanted to update you all really quickly.
We have been in India for about 3 weeks now. Sorry to not be able to update you guys sooner but we had been staying in a remote village in the Manipur state of India amongst the Hmar people and tribe ( even having clean water or electricity is a luxury in remote villages here so wifi basically does not exist ).
Anyways , I have SO been enjoying our time here in India. The country is so diverse and full of so much culture that you just can’t help but soak it all in.
Also, the people here are so kind and are so hungry for some love and hope that our time here has been quite fruitful.
We spent the first 5 days days in Calkuta, India and during that time I got the opportunity to volunteer at one of Mother Teresa’s homes where I met some doctors from Spain and got to use some of my nursing skills along side them….It was quite an eye opening day but such a blessing and I’ll have to write a blog about it to fill you all in.
The past 2 and a half weeks we have been staying at a church in the Manipur region that is situated in the mountains of India and amongst many unreached people groups!
The Hmar people we are staying with are a result of one single missionary following Christ’s call and reaching them with the gospel almost 200 years ago in 1908.
As a result of that one missionary their people are reached / mostly Christian and now are actively working on spreading the name of Jesus to the multiple other tribes in surrounding areas ( there are about 23 different tribes and languages in the area ).
It was absolutely and indescribably incredible seeing firsthand how the gospel has dramatically influenced a people and taken them from being a violent head hunting tribe to such a loving people who are actively seeking to improve themselves and their lives as well as those of theirs around them.
The ministry here was started by one of the Hmar , Dr. Rochunga Pudiate, who took on the task of translating the Bible into Hmar for his people and the rest is history. He later went on to start Bibles for the World, a ministry dedicated to getting the gospel out to people in their native languages.
He also started a church, The Evangelical Free Church of India which is rapidly growing and planting new churches throughout their region of India, and there is a rapidly growing school associated with it, which about 20 local (unreached) tribes attend.
The ministry is now overseen by his son, John Pudiate ,and his beautiful wife Lawm, who were the most welcoming and gracious hosts while we were there.
While staying with them we got to be a part of some medical camps into some outside villages that are home to other unreached peoples (I got to use my nursing quite a bit the last few weeks and am so Grateful for it).
We also got to visit a lot of local churches in villages as well as put on VBS at local churches of the area.
I hope to be able to share more with you and maybe some pictures ( good internet connection pending) within the next few days , but for now I wanted to just update you all 🙂 .
So there is my update , in case it is a bit before I get to do so again…… but what I really wanted to do with this blog was to take a moment and dedicate a blog to simply thanking all of you for all your support.
In my last blog I had thrown out a little tidbit about being short of an upcoming deadline for fundraising and not only was the deadline met , but it was EXCEEDED , so now I am only $2,000 away from being FULLY FUNDED for the rest of the year.
I still can’t really fully express how grateful I am for every person who has given from their money to help support me as a missionary this year. I also am at a loss for words because of the amount and size of anonymous donations I have received.
I am so grateful for every person who has given from their hard earned money to help support me this year and since I cannot individually address/ thank my mystery donors who went far above anything I could have ever anticipated I wanted to thank you all this way and share these verses with you… Because let’s be real what our Heavenly Father has to say is more important anyways , right
“Fear not, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom. Sell your possessions, and give to the needy. Provide yourselves with moneybags that do not grow old, with a treasure in the heavens that does not fail, where no thief approaches and no moth destroys. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”
Luke 12:32–34
“When you give a reception, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed, since they do not have the means to repay you; for you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous”
Luke 14:13–14,
“Love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return, and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High.”
Luke 6:35,
“When you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.”
Matthew 6:3–4
I can’t personally thank each and every one of you or express my gratitude in the way I would really like to since I am so far away , but I know the Father knows about your generosity and will reward you in ways far exceeding my words Both now and in eternity.
Thank you guys so much for being “Sons of the Most High” and being such good stewards of your money and providing for God’s kingdom. I have prayed for and thanked God for each and every one of you ( Seriously).
Praying is one of the main things that I know that I can do to show my gratitude for all of your support.
A thousand thanks and blessings to all of you for all your support and prayers!
Until next time ,
Peace to all of you In Christ
XoXo Arlene
