Sometimes it is difficult to describe in words what life is like so far away from home, so I have decided to create a blog at the end of each month that I will call “Picture This”, where I will post some photos of the country I am in just to give you a little bit of a better idea of what life looks like where we are living 🙂 Hope this helps, and welcome to Picture This: Indonesia!

This was our breakfast for a few days while we stayed at a small village in Bali. Can you guess what it is??… I have no idea either…

Here is a woman working diligently in the rice fields of Bali.

Luwak Coffee. The monkey eats the beans, poops them out, and then they are roasted and made into coffee. It’s apparently a delicacy, and yes, I drank monkey poop coffee.

Our walk to the field through the rice patties that we took on the afternoons we played soccer and other games with the children in Bali.

They made me a flower crown and I think they overestimated the size of my head.

These are two photos of the rice fields we were surrounded by in the village we stayed at in Bali.

Statue located at the entrance of the temple we stayed at for a week.

Here are the people I get to do life with (except one because he was sick that day :/)

My backyard in Java.

In Bali, the local people wanted to dress us up in traditional Balinese clothing and do a photo shoot in a rice field. This was one of the photos taken at the shoot.

Two room living quarters for 6 people? Sign us up!

We walk a lot of hills in Java.

So there it is, just a few photos of what life looks like for my team and I in Indonesia. I am very thankful for all that has happened here and look forward to what is coming!
