I am constantly surrounded by people who understand why. When I go to church or the people I live with, I never have to explain why I’m going on the Race. People ask about my future and if I am going back to America or what I’ll be going to college for. I nicely explain that I won’t be going to college and instead I’ll be taking nine months to travel around and help others. This type of gap year isn’t unusual within my community. Most everyone I am surrounded by are missionaries or have been. Because everyone understands, I have never truly thought about why* I am going on the Race.
Obviously, I am going because I believe God wants me to do this. With no doubt, that’s my number one reason. The “why” question I get every once in a while, my response is “to help and love other people”. Which is also, so very true. I love helping people. I genuinely love, loving the unloved. There aren’t many situations where you meet someone who has no one. But..when you do..its heartbreaking. I truly just want everyone to feel loved. You all reading this know the Lord loves everyone, we have that great knowledge. To some of us it might seem insane that others don’t know that but sadly, its true. So many people don’t know they are loved, so many people have never felt loved. I want to bring love to every person I meet. That’s why I want to go on the race. There are many more reasons but these are the most important.
fundraising update: YALL only $10,252 left to raise!! I have until August 22 to meet my second goal of $10,000. Right now I am at $6,348. It seems like a long way to go but so far, I have passed my personal goals which is incredible. Doing fundraisers from China is much more difficult than I expected. Right now I still have the Adopt-a-Box going. I also launched an Amazon Wish List (link is at bottom of the page). It has majority of the supplies I will be needing. I will be going back to America next month, so keep an eye out for new fundraisers. I appreciate all that you have given me. Still in shock I have all this support. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
