Laos was hard. And I’m not quite sure why, but the enemy was definitely attacking me. With team changes, last minute logistical surprises, and getting 22 people into Laos alone while Sarah took the rest of our squad to Thailand, it was a rough start to what ended up being my toughest month on the Race.

But there were some awesome highlights. [There were many but here are five big ones]

1)   Within the first few days of arriving in Laos my new team leader Paige got a vision from the Lord. It was about Elijah and how God said He would provide food for Elijah through the ravens. Then God said “Go” and Elijah went to give lift to a family. Paige believed that God would use us to give lift to a missionary family, and that even in the midst of a tight food budget and an expensive city, God would provide. We then proceeded to have over 10 “ravens” show up throughout the month. Not only free food, coffee, water, but we got to house sit for a missionary family and cover their house in prayer (and we think we also gave lift to them!).

2)   I spent 12 hours of alone time with the Lord and He convicted me BIG TIME that I had zero standards when it comes to my relationships with men. Which is hilarious to me because I literally thought I had unattainably high standards. God pretty much laughed, patted me on the head, and said, “Try again.” [He ended up being right]

3)   Got to celebrate the New Year water festival with my team which included jumping into a pool on the side of the road, dancing like maniacs with Asian drunk people, and riding bikes through the city and having water thrown on us constantly.

4)   My teammate Hanna Reeves had us do a “Beauty Project” photoshoot in which we wrote about why we were beautiful. It was a fun night acting like a movie star, but it was even more fun to write the blurb about why I thought I was beautiful. [hint hint we all said we were beautiful because of Christ]

5)   I was able to take a roadtrip on a motorbike and DRIVE IT. It was such beautiful scenery and it felt amazing to be able to drive again. Definitely filled my love tank. We were also able to go to the Blue Lagoon and jump in the water from a tree, which totally reminded me of “The Notebook.”

Even in the midst of the enemy attacking and hard times, no matter where we are at in our walk, He continues to be constantly good.
