Satan has really been doing a number on me lately. He has been causing me to question and doubt a lot of things. I was feeling stuck, lost, and full of extreme doubt. Ken, one of our coaches, spoke at our last worship night tonight as X-Squad. He said he wanted us to leave on this roof, something that would never have a stronghold over us ever again.
People paired up and I went over to Robert. I explained my situation, and he prayed fervently over me. As he prayed I could feel something like a snake of lightness in my mind airing out. God was at work. He finished praying and I said that I felt something happening. But already the devil was swooping in saying, “That piece of healing with a lie.”
Robert wasn’t going to leave it at that and walked us over to Candace and Kiersten. Once again I explained the situation and all three prayed one at a time.
At one point Kiersten said she saw a girl standing on a pillar with a shield.
I envisioned that girl, me, standing on a pillar in the middle of the ocean with nothing but a shield and a sword. Arrows of love from the Lord as well as arrows of lies from the devil were flying at me.
Then Jesus came in full armor and started fighting before me. Then an army of angels also all in armor surrounded me completely. I was no longer being hit by the arrows from the enemy, but the enemy was inside my mind. I fell to the ground on my knees, arms wide, face down.
I saw a snake in my mind, slithering through my brain within my head. The snake was beaten, sliced, chopped, and stabbed. Slowly it started disappearing and was flung outside the walls of my mind.
The scene changed and before me stood God, all powerful and almighty. He offered me His hand and I took it. He helped me up to my feet and I stood before Him as He wiped away the open gaping hole that was my head. Disfigured and open from the devil’s schemes and lies. God wiped it clean with a move of His hand.
And with three swipes of His mighty hand, He put one layer, two layers, three layers of a helmet, a shield inside my head. He then recovered it all with my hair. Leaned down, kissed my forehead in a sealing blessing of a covenant, and said, “Only Truth will enter here.”
When Robert said, “Amen,” I was nothing but smiles as I explained what happened. I explained the vision, and said how when I tried to remember why I had doubted, I couldn’t think of it. The helmet God had placed was so strong, all I could think about was Him. I couldn’t think or remember what the devil’s lies had been.
GOD IS SO GOOD.
I got back into my room and immediately did a dance of praise and rejoicing to the Lord.
I was reminded that when you feel like there is no hope, there is hope. When we are being attacked by the enemy, we don’t just have to sit there and pray, “God help me. God why aren’t you helping me?” In fact, we shouldn’t just do that. We need to remember that God has equipped us with tools to fight the enemy with His strength.
The belt of truth; the breastplate of righteousness; feet fitted with readiness; shield of faith; helmet of salvation; and the sword of the Spirit.
These are our tools to fight against the enemy of our God.
Speak it out. Speak out the lies. Even when you question them as truth as I had been doing, speak them out. Let people pray for you passionately until those lies are replaced with truths. Let the darkness come to the light because the enemy can’t win there.
(Ephesians 6:10-17)
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.
Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
