Asking the Lord is something we do often on the World Race (same as laying hands on anything and everything and covering it in prayer, but that’s an entirely different story). Basically you take some time in prayer and just Ask The Lord what He has planned. We did it at Launch where we did ATL before wandering around Atlanta neighborhoods.
Tonight we did it again and God definitely showed up in such a cool way.
During this month we will be preaching a lot, potentially five times a week. Tonight (Tuesday November 5, 2013) we all knew that someone would have to preach, so I had been praying about it for the past two days. I love preaching, love it. Two of my favorite moments on the Race thus far have been when I preached (once in South Africa and once in Swaziland)
So two days ago I started praying about what the Lord wanted me to preach on if I was supposed to preach on Tuesday. But I kept getting nothing and instead it was laid on my heart that I should take a step back, that I wasn’t supposed to preach on Tuesday, and that I needed to wait and let others step up
Today we sat down as a team to figure out who was going to preach tonight. I felt selfish about what I thought God was telling me, so I voiced it hesitantly, saying that even though I love preaching and would willingly do it, I felt God was telling me to step back and have someone else do it.
Then we broke up for about a half hour to pray about it individually. Tomorrow (Wednesday November 6) we are going to a prayer meeting in the morning and there is a possibility that we will have to preach. I felt called to that, so I started working on a sermon about prayer in case we need to do that tomorrow.
When we all came back together to discuss what the Lord had told us, we discovered that each of us were assigned a different day by the Lord.
JB said that as soon as I told them what I felt the Lord was telling me, she knew it was going to be her preaching tonight and as soon as she started writing, the words were the Lord’s.
I was told to work on the prayer meeting tomorrow.
Aimee and Alicia were both told that Aimee would be preaching, but not tonight, so she is going on Friday (November 8).
Sarette was given a word for the youth meeting, which happens on Saturday (November 9).
And Aly was told she would be preaching for a large audience, most likely on a Sunday.
The Lord provided. I was worried that more than one person would come back and say, “Ok it’s me,” which would be awkward, or that no one felt called. But instead the Lord provided and we each were assigned a different day; it could only be from the Lord.
“Ask and it will be given to you, seek and you will find, knock and the door will be opened to you.”
(Matthew 7:7)
Fundraising update:
I still have a little over $500 left to raise in order to be fully funded which is so exciting! But my teammate Aimee still have $4,000 left to raise in order to be allowed to stay on the World Race until March. Her next financial deadline is December 1 which is coming up quick! Please consider supporting her to help her reach her next deadline so she can stay!
