Let me just start off by saying that I am pretty sure that most people think they’ve got the best mom. The truth of the matter is that they are so right. Ya’ll do have the best mom..for you. But for me.. for me.. i’ve got the best mom. The PERFECT mom. God sure knew what He was up to when he gave me my momma (Or I suppose gave me to my mom). This blog is all about my favorite lady. Please enjoy. I hope that if anything, this post 1. Helps you get to know me a little better and 2. Reminds you how much you love your momma or mother figure!
20 years ago my mom was celebrating Mothers day by cooking food for a 4 year old and a 10 month old. Picking up a ton of toy trucks and stuffed animals, changing lots of dirty diapers and probably more likely than not, being excruciatingly sleep deprived. Thank you, mom. Thanks for changing my dirty diapers and for loving me even when I puked all over you. You’re incredible.
I can’t believe it’s been almost 21 years. You have laid, crawled, walked and ran along side me in this crazy adventure of my life since day 1. You have always been my number 1 fan. You even loved me when I slammed doors in your face, told you that you were ruining my life, and all the numerous amounts of times I told you I was never going to live with you after I turned 18.. (and here we are..)
Oh but momma, all jokes aside, thank you. Here’s a few things that I have learned from you/appreciate about you.
1. You taught me how to love even when it hurts. Love has the power to break our hearts if we let it, and you always taught me that it was worth it. Worth it to give love a shot. Thank you for that.
2. You taught me to fight the Goliath’s in my life.. everyday. Waking up every morning ready to fight a battle is something that i’ve been taught since I was a youngin. You taught me how to fight for the things that are hard to fight for, the things that most people are too afraid to fight for. Thank you for that.
3. You taught me walk in my beauty. You taught me how to be secure in my own skin. Since day 1, you’ve reminded me that it’s not about wearing make-up or a certain size clothing. You poured beauty into my soul, thank you for that.
4. You taught me how to ROCK comfy clothes. You taught me how to feel just as beautiful in sweats as I do in dresses. Thank you for that.
5. You taught me to be content with little. It wasn’t ever about having a ton of name brand things or shopping at Nordstrom for all my school clothes. We had more than some and less than others, but it always felt like just the right amount for Joshua and I. Thank you for that.
6. You taught me that I don’t need no man. (I had to! 🙂 ) But seriously, the crazy middle school boy stage would’ve been much worse without you, i’m sure of it. And now you are my biggest example of a wonderful Godly marriage. You seek to serve Jesus through serving your husband. You have modeled that marriage is a beautiful thing, but not one that I NEED to make me whole. Thank you for that.
7. You taught me how to communicate effectively. Ignoring the elephant in the room was never a thing that our family did. We talked, and talked, and talked some more about issues until we could resolve the issue at hand. You taught me how to talk and not yell. Thank you for that.
8. You believed in me when I didn’t believe in myself. Thank you for pushing me to be the best I could be, even when I didn’t realize I wasn’t doing my best.
9. You dream my dreams with me. You share my passions and my desires. You’ve never once in my whole life told me I couldn’t do something that I had my heart set on. You’ve supported me even when it means letting your baby drive to mexico to tell people about Jesus. You taught me to be passionate. Thank you for that.
10. You cry with me. When you see that my heart is broken, your heart breaks, and in those moments you aren’t just my mom, my role model or my confidant. You’re all those things and my best friend. Thank you for crying with me and hurting with me, and showing me I’m never alone. Thank you for that.
11. You inspire me when the well of ideas runs dry. You spark dreams in me that I didn’t even know I had. The Lord uses you to speak truth and life in to me in a very special way that no one else could do. Thank you for that.
12. You protect me. I never feel unsafe when my mom is there. You created a safe home for Joshua and I. Thank you for that.
13. You were mom and dad for a lot of years. You poured enough love into Joshua and I for both you and my father, and you made it look effortless. Thank you for that.
14. You watch football with me. We can sit in the living room cheering so loud the neighbors hear for hours. I will never get tired of watching football with you. Thank you for that.
15. You are an excellent mother, daughter, aunt, sister, cousin and friend to everyone in anyone of those categories. Thank you for that.
Momma, you pour everything you are in to the things and people you love. Thank you for loving me when I didn’t feel worthy of love. Thank you for making me feel beautiful when I had to go to school with my first pimple. Thank you for putting me first, and loving me unconditionally. Thank you for being my best friend. I don’t know what I’ll do next year on Mothers day without you, but just know that no matter where I am in all the world, you will forever and always be my favorite mom in the whole wide world.
I love you to the moon and back!!! I’ll forever be your little girl. <3 Ariah Lynn
