God is moving in Honduras. Social, economic and political issues may be more prevalent here, but for Americans to be proud of themselves as a chief Christian nation is pretty ignorant. I don’t know what the statistics say, but the passionate lifestyle of believers here is astounding. House churches meet almost daily. Believers pray together regularly and with fervent boldness. Faith is high in the midst of more difficult struggles. Elderly women say silent prayers while riding the local busses. Orphan children understand the things of God considerably better than I did at their age, and love each other with maturity beyond their years (most of the time). It is purely a privilege to be here, and to be a part of what God is doing.

In America, we tend to let faith in God dwindle to dangerously low levels. We trust in time and doctors more than a simple prayer to an Ultimate being. Here, the miraculous isn’t a fantasy, but a regular part of life. In just a few days, we’ve already heard reports of at least two miraculous healing, and people are eager to accept the truth of what God can do.

God is big. God is alive. God loves fully. God desires good things for his children. Grab ahold of that faith. As a local pastor explained, with God, things are simpler:

Think of the Israelites when they were fleeing Egypt. They came upon the Red Sea, and were cornered. They had two options: One, swim across the sea, while trying to transport cattle, children, and supplies, or two, fight a powerful Egyptian army without any weapons or military. Both options were impossibly difficult, and they were stuck without any obvious way out. But with God, we are given a simpler option. God told Moses to stretch his hand out, and touch his staff to the sea, and believe – an incredibly simple task to physically perform – and the sea split in two.

God’s option may be the most difficult to believe, but they’re also the simplest. Stretch your hands out, approach the shores of Grace, and believe in a God who can accomplish even the most impossible things.
