To start off this blog, I came up with the idea to use the 5 W’s to share with my supporters and fellow racers a clear picture of this whole vision. I’m not sure if the WHO comes first in the sequence, but I figured it’ll be a good start.
You may be asking yourself, “didn’t she just write all about herself in the ‘About Me’ section?” Kind of. That page is just a happy little snippet and fast fact page to introduce myself. Plus, most of it is what I’ve DONE and not really who I AM.
Introduction to ME
* I am currently a 22 year-old college student who is in love with this sunny, 80-degree day we are having in the BCS. After working on this blog, I’ll be attending my first Biochem Rescitation class, pick up some books, eat my FIRST crockpot creation, and finish my day babysitting two 3 year old boys. This is pretty much a typical day for me, always running around to class, lab, or running errands.
*I love learning from my interesting & challenging classes at school, but the constant workload can be draining sometimes.
*I grew up being an introvert, always reading or spending time by myself and scared of new situations. Though I am naturally not very outgoing, I have grown into being a self-taught extrovert. Even though the thought of new situations and people scare me, I love meeting new people, learning about their lives, and what makes them work.
*I tend to ask A LOT of questions, as my friends will tell you. When I meet someone who is different than me, I want to know what makes them tick and why they do things. Sometimes these questions are out of nowhere, off the wall, or really awkward but I am just so curious! I like being adventurous but sometimes hesitate against breaking the rules or stepping out of my comfort zone.
*Since college, i have become better about understanding and communicating my emotions and feelings, something that was a little foreign to me growing up. Recently I have been learning how to be confident in my emotion, and realizing that “negative” emotions are not necessarily “bad” ones.
*I am easily startled and will probably jump or grab onto the person next to me if I hear a loud noise.
*I love art and people that create it, no matter what the medium. I was a dancer in high school and miss being able to express myself in that way. I’m interested in learning more about photography and my recent craft I have taken up is knitting. It is methodical and relaxing at the same time, helps to relieve stress AND make something really cute at the same time. I appreciate other art such as film and music, and I like to consider myself well-versed in all types of visual and performing arts.
*I am easily turned off by “cliches” especially Christian ones. I am drawn to genuine and real people, and hope that all the people on my team will be honest and vulnerable about all our experiences together.
*I tend to need some encouragement to do things that I’m either scared or or don’t want to do, and I cherish time spent with people that I love.
*I love to love. Though sometimes I am hesitant to trust, I love caring about those around me and learning how to love them well.
*I consider my relationship with the Lord as a long journey, I can’t tell you when or where it started, but I know that I am constantly learning and growing and hope that never stops.
*I tend to burp A LOT. They are not very proper, but I have a GI issue that causes me to belch/hiccup at times. I have been to the doctor about it (even had an endoscopy) so don’t be offended if one slips out! That just means I am comfortable enough around you and I consider you my friend 🙂
*One of my biggest struggles is jealousy/comparing myself to others. It is a constant war between trying to find confidence in the way I am made and admiring others’ attributes. I have made great strides in this area from high school, but as a girl living in America, it’s a little inevitable!
*I am a chronic list-maker
*I still have a slight fear of boys
Hopefully these words paint an accurate picture of who I am! If there’s any other traits that you know I have, leave them in a comment! I love learning different things about myself, especially from an outside perspective.
