If you don’t have the time/skills to navigate through the World Race website, this blog is for you! What is this 11 month trip I’m going on, asking money for, and writing about all the time? I’ll try my best to explain it, as I am still a little hazy on the details.

All in all, I will be a part of a team (5 or six people, mixed genders, some married some single) that is part of a “squad” (100 people?) which is part of the whole Month’s group (mine will be JANUARY 2011, just to clarify). I will be introduced to my team at Training Camp (3 or so months preceding the race– I’m thinking mine will be in October 2010) where we will prep for our journey and grow to learn about each other and our roles on the teams. I’m super excited/nervous about finding out who these people are because I will be living, 24/7, vulnerable and open, with them for eleven whole months!

The entire January 2011 group will go the same route to each country, but my understanding is that we will be in different parts doing different things. I am currently unaware of which specific countries I am going to (I should find out sometime late spring or early summer) but I know that anywhere I end up will have its own set of challenges and victories. We will be doing ministry according to the needs of the people and the contacts we have there. The tasks range from manual labor to evangelizing on the streets to putting on VBS for the local churches. This “unknown” plan scares me slightly, but I know that I will be used as needed for the kingdom.

And no, it is not really a “race”. We aren’t going around racing to see how many people we can evangelize, how many cities we can cover, or ask people for money to get to our next destination as fast as we can.  I guess the “race” part just makes for a catchy title and conversation piece.
