When did this happen? I’ve definitely had the attitude of “oh, this isn’t going to happen for a long time, I don’t have to think about it yet” about the race/training camp but it’s HERE! On Friday morning, Carrie & I are driving east to GEORGIA!! I’m pretty pumped. We will be staying at a camp with all our other squad members (100? more?) living in our tents, eating weird food, and starting to become a community. Exciting, but boy am I scared!! I can’t remember a time in my life when I thought meeting a bunch of new people at once was enjoyable. I ALWAYS dread meeting others, figuring out dynamics, forgetting everyone’s name, etc. etc. After it’s over though…that sure is sweet. We’ve got people on our squad that are all over the country and even some from Canada! I’ve snooped around a bit on some other blogs and have decided I’m excited about meeting & getting to know everyone: their stories, struggles, backgrounds. If you know me at all, you KNOW I ask an obscene amount of questions. I just love to know how everyone lives, how they make their life work, what growing up was like, etc. Hopefully I won’t put my foot in my mouth too many times!

I’ve been keeping my self busy with a LOT of babysitting/odd jobs that have fallen into my lap. I’m so thankful that the Lord is providing money & purpose in so many different ways, even if that wasn’t my original vision. I have over $5,000 in my account now! 1/3 of the way there! I have a few more plans up my sleeve, namely another garage sale & getting started on designing & selling long sleeve T-shirts. Long sleeves, that’s the way to go! I have way too many short sleeve Tees, though I have been dwindling my supply down in an effort to rid my closet from “college kid” clothes. I have a few ideas for the design rolling around in my head, but I’m mostly counting on my former-graphic-design-major sister to think of the final product.

Went to WEINERFEST this weekend! This is the 4th year that I’ve joined the Franks family in this wonderful tradition in which Maggie (blind, 12 year old weiner dog) gets the spotlight and wins a trophy every time (in the handicapped division). Last year, the new puppies Ellie & Jack joined us and we have upgraded to full tailgating mode! Maggie raced by herself (the only Senior Special Olympian) so of course she won, Jack was slow, and Ellie made it to the finals but gave in to her interest in the other dogs rather than winning the race. Here’s a pic from the 1st annual Race in 2007:
