I’m in the middle of my 3rd week in India and it seems like 3 months… I’ll give you a little picture of what life looks like right now:

First of all, I’ll be honest and say that I do miss America. I know that I will come back and be thankful for so much more and I hope that I remember all the things I have to do without! A few

(surface level) examples

-Hygiene, cleanliness, sanitization, non-smellyness of America. There are smells here that I couldn’t even begin to describe. And I get exposed to new & exciting germs every day.

-The food. I have a pretty good attitude about what we’re eating, but I didn’t think it would be so monotonous! I am always up for trying something new, but it’s hard to get excited about eating rice & curry each day. Pray that I would be thankful for what I do have! Also pray that our team would get as much benefit from the foods that we do eat, because the soil has been stripped of its nutrients and we don’t have many good sources of complete proteins.

-Alone time. College was a great time to make your own schedule and do what you want when you wanted to. Plus I loved the times I was just alone in my car. I will never be alone again!! It’s a hard reality to swallow that there will be someone in my business 24/7 for 10 more months. Maybe this will prepare me better for marriage?

-Ice. I knew I would miss this…. Makes drinks instantly cold and gives you a little something to chew after finishing.

Overall, I’m doing really well. I’ve adjusted (as much as possible) to the nomad lifestyle and have embraced my newly unpredictable, messy, and exciting life. My team and I have grown so much closer and there is a bond that we have made between our 7 people. We are about to head into unknown territory as we do village ministry based in middle —of-nowhere Andhra Pradesh. Pray that we will lean on the Lord and each other as we deal with no running water, no electricity, no Internet for the first time on the Race! I’m excited to embrace this head on and be out of my comfort zone. We’ll be there for 10 days then will head up to Nepal!!! Weird that we are almost done with our second month.

I promise I will write a blog about our work with Sarah’s Covenant Home, ICM, and our day off at the beach soon!!! Oh and pictures. I put some up on facebook but you will have to imagine the captions yourself.

Vandinalu!!
