For those of you who have heard me or anyone else talk about this trip called the World Race you hear a lot about “trusting in God to provide” and “having faith that He will deliver.” What does it all mean? It is easy to simply say these things to a friend or coworker but as time goes on the words either become meaningless words or you begin to think about what they really mean down to your heart. I am at that stage where I am trying to figure out exactly what those words really mean. I have never gone on any mission trip so everything it totally new to me, but one thing I have learned already is how faith in God is the only thing that will always be certain in your life! Friends will let you down, family will let you down, that job you have had for 30 years will let you down but one thing is guaranteed and that is if you believe in God and that HE sent his son Jesus Christ to die for each and every one of us and all our sins, then you never have to worry about really being let down because God will ALWAYS provide for us. Not including equipment and misc. fees I have to trust and put my faith in God to provide $15,500 for this trip, for Him that’s pocket change; for me, a broke newly graduate of college that’s A LOT OF MONEY! I could go out and co-sign a loan for the money with my parents and be done with the whole thing, but 1) where is the fun in that? And 2) I would be showing to God that I don’t believe in His power to provide and my faith would be artificial. I have not even left for this mission but my eyes have already been open to what it means to have FAITH! The coolest thing is that I still have yet to see even the tip of the iceberg is this amazing life long journey! I am excited to see how God provides and would not want my faith placed in any other hands than His!
