This past two weeks have been really busy here in Guatemala and it has started to feel like home. Today we moved out our tents and into the house which is a huge blessing. I could have handled a few more weeks in the tent but I am not complaining about being in the house.
We have started to get into more of a routine as far as ministry goes, this we week we stared to going to a orphanage two times a week to help with some physical needs they have. The other four days are spent doing ministry in Antigua. One cool story that has taken place was the other day Jayden, Gabe and I were walking the streets of Antigua, we were prayer walking and just asking God if there was any person we were supposed to be talking too. We were led to Tony, he started telling us about his life and the different struggles he had. It was easy to see he was on drugs and we asked if we could pray for him. He was very defensive going into the prayer and by the end he had his arms raised and praising God. A few days later Jayden and I ran into Tony agin and he told us he was off of drugs. We have seen him a few more times recently and its our prayer we can continue to minister to him and show him love. This past friday our team went to a nearby town and help feed over 500 kids. This was amazing to see this many kids be fed and we got a hug from each one of them on the way out! Our team has been so blessed to be put together and it has been really great to see all of us growing together.
I just finished reading the book Spiritual Slavery to Spiritual Sonship, there are so many great things to take from this book but their is one lesson that stuck out to me. I came to Guatemala with a very mission minded heart and thinking that I had was doing pretty well. In chapter 3 of this book it talks about the Great Commission vs the Great Commandment. I so often look at the Great Commission and forget about the most important thing that Jesus told us. We are called to love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and mind. I was guilty of coming to Guatemala with the mindset of how many people I am gonna help and I got distracted from the real purpose. No matter what circumstance we are put in, loving God must always come first and it makes loving others so much easier.
God is continuing to teach me new things everyday, and its my desire I am focused on living in the moment. I am feeling everyones prayers and I love each one of you! Until next time….
