We, as a team, were faced with a financial decision on how to get to Egypt. We had to choose between: going overland through Syria, flying to Tel Aviv, or traveling overland through and flying from Cyprus. We as a team prayed about it and felt a heart for Syria but knew we had to go thru Israel. The flight to Tel Aviv was cheaper than we had expected and arrived there late on Sunday evening. Soon after leaving the airport, we made our way to Jerusalem. There we met our hosts, a South African family living on faith, which would look after us for the next two days.

The next morning we made our way through the old city, and its markets to the western wall. There we walked amongst all the praying Jews. From there we hiked up the Mount of Olives were we stood and looked over the old city. We continued on to the prison cells were Jesus was beaten. At the prison, we prayed and just experienced the love that Christ had for us to go thru His crucifixion. We had a quiet evening planning our next day.

The following day we spent the morning at the holocaust museum. Seeing all the horrific things the Jews went through in Europe. The afternoon we went to the garden tomb and saw the tomb were Jesus was buried. There we had communion and just thanked the Lord for His sacrifice.

The time in Jerusalem was a wonderful experience and I am glad that we were able to visit there. The Bible and its teachings have become alive in a new way. I now have a better perspective and deeper understanding of where it all took place.
