First and foremost, I am a child of God. Second, I am a sinner that needs the constant saving grace of a God that knows no limits. I wish I had the opportunity to really explain in full what those two statements have meant to me, but living this life for Christ is a journey that is always advancing. Hopefully you guys will enjoy hearing about the story He is writing through my life from this chapter onward.

Why are you going on the World Race?

One fateful April night while studying for finals, a good friend of mine showed me the World Race website. Immediately, I was hooked. My studying was done for the night. I simply couldn't stop looking through the site, and wondered why I had felt so compelled by the descriptions of each route, by the mission that each person was trying to carry out.

And then, the doubts already began to creep in. Can God even use someone as sinful and hypocritical as me?  How am I supposed to raise $15,500+? What will my parents think? Is it "worth" it to miss out on the fun experiences of second semester of my senior year? Will I be able to get a solid full-time job afterward? Is this even God's will for me?

If there's anything I've learned through this experience thus far, it's this: He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus (Philippians 1:6). God gave me the necessary people to encourage me along the way, and signs of His favor throughout the following month. The night before my World Race interview, I stumbled across one of my favorite verses – "No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him" – 1 Corinthians 2:9. In a moment, it was confirmed – This was God's plan for me, and He has so much more in store. So I'm inviting you to join me in this race. "Do you not know that in a race, all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize" (1 Corinthians 9:24). Time to run hard, fight the good fight, and run this race til the finish. God bless!
