From Kathmandu, we took an extremely bumpy (understatement) 14hour bus trip to a secluded village in the mountains. We had no idea what awaited us but we couldn’t wait to get there!
Dandabazar has been our home for the last two weeks. We have been warmly welcomed into Pastor Youbraj and his wife Dipa’s family. Their children Sristi and Bikal have become our younger siblings and we have loved getting to know them and hang out with them. It’s been so fun to have them teach us more Nepali and introduce us to new foods.
My favourite moments have come from family dinners together! It has been so special to sit around with all of the family all in the kitchen and share meals together. They’re loud and crazy dinner and they remind me of my meal times back at home which is why I think I love them so much! The combination of Dipa cooking and teaching us, Bikal playing his guitar, grandma in the corner quietly laughing and Pastor explaining what’s going on creates a great atmosphere and one that has made us feel extremely welcome.
Throughout our time in the village, Pastor Youbraj has taken us on several hikes, up and down the mountains to share the gospel. The boldness to which he enters each village and home stems from his deep convictions and great love for God and the people of his country.
We have gotten to be apart of the church family and they have encouraged us so much with their Christian community and generous hospitality. They have become our family!
Throughout this month, I’ve seen each person in my team grow in confidence in sharing what Christ has done. We know what we stand for and we want others to share in that hope.
Romans 1:16
For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes.
We have had so many opportunities to speak, share and pray and it’s been incredible to have been able to visit so many houses and families. Dandabazar is a special place and I will never forget all the amazing memories!
