Training camp! Woaah! What a whirlwind adventure! It seems like it all came and went so fast but I remember sitting in my tent, day two, wondering if it was ever going to be over!

I had no idea what to expect at training camp. I’d read a bunch of blogs that had described aspects of it but nothing could prepare me for arriving at the campsite and finally meeting all my squadmates! It was slightly overwhelming and ridiculously fun!

The amazing people of B squad

We camped out in a field, getting to try out all our gear and perfect the art of packing! There were talks on practical things as well as spiritual things. Worship was frequent and refreshing. There was free time, naptime, team time as well as spontaneous dance time. It was fun to try out new foods as well as new ways to eat! There was laughter, tears and a whole lot of hugging.

Towards the end of the week, we found out our teams! So I’m on a squad of 48 people and we are split into seven different teams. Our squad will be travelling to all of the same countries at the same time, but once we reach a country, teams will go work with different ministry contacts.

My team! Diane, Julie, Meredith, Brittani. Front: Audra and Kira

Above is a picture of my team! Our team name is ‘Global Rootz’ because there are members from all over the United States as well as Canada and Australia and we will be travelling to many more places around the globe.

One last thing… there has been a ROUTE CHANGE! This can happen for a variety of reasons and now we will not be going to Mozambique, Malaysia or Ukraine. Instead, our route now includes Thailand, Albania and Turkey! I’m super excited for the ministry opportunities in each of these locations!

Only 56 days till we fly to South Africa!
