My time in Cambodia has come to an end. This past month has flown by so quickly that I feel like I just got here. Cambodia is full of amazing things but there are so many great things to come!
While I’m sad to leave, there are a few things that I can say goodbye to:
- Waking up with a questionable film on my face.
- Having to give myself a pep talk just to take a shower over a squatter potty.
- Being attacked by bugs that have legs larger than my fingers
- Sweating ALL THE TIME!! (Waking up, playing with the kids, sitting down and of course trying to sleep sweating)
- Being able to wipe off my dirt tan at the end of the day.
- Convincing myself that my clothes are clean.
- Debating if the meat I’m eating is chicken, dog, or pork.
- Listening to the war between lizards and mice in my ceiling every night and the “occasional” spider.
- Waking up to the loud sound of a skateboard slamming on the ground at 6 am.
- Playing the game “what’s running down my neck: bug or sweat?”
While I’m excited to leave those things behind, there are many things of this beautiful place that I will miss.
- Getting giant hugs from the kids every evening after prayers.
- Our amazing ministry host, Vandy, and his family.
- Teaching English to all of the kids .
- Biking to the store to get amazing “green drink” from the store owner.
- Worshiping with the kids every weekend.
- Working with the kids on learning their bible verse for the week.
- Waking up to our translator, Courtney, playing one of his original songs.
- Whacking out fire to fuel my inner pyro.
- Eating amazing home cooked food for every meal.
- Realizing that it’s sweat and not a giant bug running down my neck.
