Rest can be a form of many things. For me rest is finding time to just sit and be still. It is in those moments where God moves in my life. I have always found peace through music but I find worship through words. Not just words of a song but always words from a pastor, friend, family or really anything that speaks the truth of God. A lot of the time I find myself getting wrapped up in the motion of it all, the lights, the band and I don’t really listen to the words. God never asked for us to give Him a performance, He asked us to worship Him with all our heart, soul, and mind. Meaning that we have an Untainted Worship, one that is truly authentic. Whatever that may look like do it, all to the glory of God. This past week I have found so much rest and comfort in the words of songs. I started writing down the lyrics that stood out to me and the words became this beautiful love letter to God. So here is my love letter to God through song.
“I will trust the Voice that Speaks. Say the Word and I will set my feet upon the sea. Until I’m dancing in the deep. Oh Jesus, surround me with the Voice that Speaks. You are here so it is Well. Help my faith to rise up in the deep. The God of Heaven is my defense. You fight for me and my life is in Your hands. Show me the way to live like I’m forgiven. Every morning Mercy will restore me. But even if the World falls around me I will still proclaim everything that Your Mercy did for me! God you are good, you are good! You are my song, the fire in my veins, and You are the echo of my days. Your never going to let me down! No matter what I say, no matter what I do YOUR NEVER GOING TO LET ME DOWN because YOU ARE GOOD. Let me proclaim this in every area of my life Lord I’ve got to say that I LOVE YOU LORD. I have a love that won’t back down. You’ve turned my mourning into dancing, and You have turned my night into day. I’m not burning out and I’m not backing down! Your Name is Higher than the rising sun. My Great redeemer You shine forever! Simply to speak Your Name is Praise, Name above ALL! What you spoke is now unfolding. Poor it out, let Your Glory fill this House! If your not in it I don’t want it. Let All Else Fade. Take this whole world But give me JESUS! Take away the old that stands between. LET ALL ELSE FADE AWAY! Your Name is the only name that matters. Your heart is all that I desire. Not my will but Yours alone forever. Here’s my life have YOUR WAY! There is no one else like You GOD! Take me from where I’ve been into something new. Lord I’m giving up control, come Breakthrough. All of my dreams and fears are crashing into You. Come Breakthrough. It’s so amazing how You take the ashes and turn them into something beautiful. It’s what You always do. You are my Breakthrough. God Your love came crashing in and pulled me out of the fire. I’m a Survivor! You gave me something to believe in. So, I throw all my cares before You. My doubts and fears don’t scare You. Your bigger than I thought You were. Your bigger than I thought. So, I stop all negotiations with the God of all creation. Cause Your bigger than I thought You were. Your bigger than I thought. So I will rest in the Fathers hands and leave the rest in the Fathers hands.”
My love letter could go on and on with the praises that I find but if my heart doesn’t replicate my words am I really believing the love letter that I write? My challenge is that you write down the words that God reveals in your life that make up your love letter to God. I would love to read them if you are willing to share.
