For those of you who don’t know me, I love music. I find myself getting lost in it on a daily basis. I tend to listen and ponder the lyrics more than I would if I were listening to a speaker or an audio book, it’s just how my brain functions.
With all of that being said, I heard this new song recently called “No Longer Slaves” by Bethel and it got me thinking. It’s lyrics go

We ARE children of God! Do you understand what that means? It means we are HIS. The one who created of the universe, the one who placed the stars in the skies, the one who builds mountains, the one who paints sunrises and sunsets is our FATHER. And he loves us so so much!
Because of this we are no longer slaves to fear, lust, hatred, immorality, greed, anger, debt, or anything else. His love for us breaks us free from the chains of sin!
This song hit me hard. I had always heard and claimed that God was my father, but it wasn’t until I listened to this song that I actually got it. With all of these changes coming up, I have been weighed down by fear and frustration. After hearing this song and speaking to the Lord I realized it doesn’t matter how scared or upset I get, because my dad is bigger than all of it. He is the one in control of my life, not anything else. The only thing I’m captive of is His love, and that is the the most freeing feeling I can comprehend!
So don’t be discouraged by failures or sins in your life. You aren’t flawless, but you are a Child of God and there is redemption in that!
