At this point I am 7 months away from training camp and 9 months away from launch, and the hardest part right now is fundraising. I hate asking people for support. I work at a pizza place, and sometimes I feel bad asking people to pay for their pizza.
This is the part where God is really asking me to trust him and put myself out there, and to be bold. Because I know one thing for sure, this trip is something God is calling me to.
Thanks for taking the time to check out my blog and my support letter!
Happy New Year! I hope you had a wonderful holiday season and are enjoying the beginning of 2016. There are a lot of exciting things happening this year; I will be graduating in June, and in August, instead of going straight to college, I will be taking a gap year!
After a short term missions trip to Haiti in the summer of 2014, I felt a calling to continue serving through overseas missions. So long story short, next year instead of going to college, I will be going on the World Race Gap Year! I am so lucky and blessed to have the opportunity go on this adventure. The World Race is a nine month mission trip. During those nine months I will serve in three different countries; Guatemala, Lesotho, and Cambodia!
I will be involved in all kinds of ministry in these countries such as working with orphans, teaching English, planting churches, feeding victims of natural disasters, ministering to those trapped in prostitution due to human trafficking, and many other things, all while preaching the Gospel. I have never done the majority of those things before, but a friend once told me, “God doesn’t call the equipped, He equips the called.” And I expect Him to do just that.
I am so excited and grateful for this adventure and I have no doubt that when He calls He also provides. I am humbly asking if you would consider partnering with me in prayer, but of course I am in need of financial support as well. I must raise $13,805 (OMG!) for this ministry opportunity, which will cover all of my expenses while on the field. While that number may seem daunting, I would like to express that every little bit is a huge blessing.
While it will be my personal experience, this money is really being raised so that people across the world may be served as Christ served, and loved as He loved. By praying with me, and/or giving financially, you also become a part of this amazing work that God is doing. I am currently working to raise as much money for this trip as possible. But as a full time high school student, it is impossible to raise the full amount on my own. Would you consider coming alongside me and supporting me over these next nine months as I prepare for this trip? Whether your support is prayerful or monetary, any support (seriously every single gift is important) is greatly appreciated!
I have enclosed a response card with my information, inviting you to share in this ministry. There is also a second page with more specific instructions on how to give and details about the different options. I also have a blog (anniejansen.theworldrace.org) where you can keep up with my adventure! I would like to thank you in advance for your prayers and financial support. I hope that through this experience I may be a blessing to you, as well as to the people I will have the honor of serving directly around the world.
