Only some children go to school in Haiti-
Mostly the rich kids whose parents can afford registration and book fees.

This month we have been working with a school that is free, providing an education for children that would otherwise have none.

In the mornings we play with the children during their recess.

These children have transformed my experience here in Haiti.

I couldn't help but fall in love with these precious faces that sprint up and jump in my arms, run their fingers through my hair for hours, and beg me to join in their games.

Other days we go around the streets knocking on doors telling people about the free school.

It's sad how pride gets in the way of a free gift.

Many times parents would say their children went to school, even though our translator knew for a fact that they didn't.
They didn't want to admit that they couldn't afford an education for their children.

They were often skeptical of us, trying to figure out the catch.

They couldn't wrap their mind around a free gift.

And they would rather keep their kids at home than accept something they didn't understand.

The beautiful thing about children is how readily they recieve gifts.

They LOVE gfits.

They love being loved.

They love being touched.

They love being held.

They love being seen.

They know how to recieve a gift that is free.

"I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it."
Luke 18:17
