So here I am in Nicaragua, and it is a lot warmer here than it was in Costa Rica so it’s taking a little to adjust that. We are living in a mountainous area and it is really beautiful everywhere you look. Our living quarters are in a church with all our tents set up in one big area kind of like a tent city.  Also we don’t have Internet where we are staying so I have to go to an internet café, I will try to still keep in touch but know it might be a little less than last month. There are a lot of people now that we’re with the whole squad this month, its crazy at times but I know I’ll miss it when it’s done so I’m loving it while its here. We have ladies who are cooking all our meals for us because it would be crazy if 8 teams were trying to cook all there meals on a fire 3 times a day, plus we have no storage system at the church so that’s pretty great that they’re doing that for us. My team was matched up with one other team; Intentional Vagabonds, and we will be doing ministry together for this month.
Monday was our first ministry day and we met the pastor we’re going to be working with; Pastor Louisa, and she took us to a school that day and we hung out at a health fair for part of the morning then cleaned some classrooms. In the afternoon we went to the High School and cleaned a few rooms there, pretty much just took a hose to the inside and scrubbed it down. Tuesday we went to the church where they are building some Bible School classrooms so the guys helped to lay down the rebar and us ladies moved 2200 bricks from one side of the shelter to the other basically so that they were closing to the building site. So that took all day and the people we’re working with are so kind they got us a 2L Coke and some muffins for a mid morning break. It was a really good day, we got to know the other team a little better and we sang some good worship songs and I’m starting to get the hang of Yodeling, which is exciting! And then today we went back to the site and we all had different jobs and mine was to shovel sand into wheelbarrows and the guys running the wheelbarrows brought to a place about 10ft away. So I was really confused as to why we were doing that until I realized there was a gate behind the huge pile of sand and our goal was to dig it out. That took several hours to get accomplished and in the midst we also had to make cement for the guys so that was good, I’ve often seen it done but I’d never done it before today so now I know just how hard that job is. I think for the next few days we’ll be doing construction at the church and also for another lady whom we’ll meet tomorrow. I’m really enjoying it and I think that has a lot to do with the sweet little boy and girl who live there, they are so helpful and just a joy to be around and the guys we work with are also very entertaining. I’m not going to say that I’m not sore  though cause I am from all that shoveling so I just pray that I’m not going to get to stiff so I can continue to work at a good pace.
I do have some prayer requests for my team and for myself so if you feel led to pray then please do.

  • A lot of people are currently sick with some kind of stomach virus so they are having a hard time keeping any type of fluid or solid in there system.
  • A lot of the ministries involve hard labor so just pray for energy and physical strength to get us through each day
  • There are a lot of us who are learning to play guitar well so that we can lead worship so pray that we will reach that point of musical talent J
  • We still have a number of people who have not reached the next financial deadline, ($11,000) which is in about a month including myself so please pray for that and if you feel led to give just click on the support link on the left hand side of the page.
  • I really need discernment in what God is teaching me about the book of Revelation, He’s been calling me to study it and I am just now following through with it.
  • Also I need courage and a boldness to minister in ways that are uncomfortable to me such as: playing guitar in a worship team, speaking truth in the moment, and evangelism.

I appreciate all your prayers and know that it does make a difference.
