My team has decided to go back to South Africa for the next 6 weeks of our time in Africa.  We met a missionary from the United States while we were in Mozambique and he gave us the phone number of a friend that works in South Africa.  The friend lives and works in a compound that contains a school and an orphanage.  We are not exactly sure what we will be doing, but painting and playing with orphans will probably be part of our ministry.  On June 20th we will leave the Kingdom of Swaziland bound for Rustinburg, South Africa.

You may wonder what a World Racer does when they are not directly involved in a scheduled program or ministry.  A good bit of our past two weeks has been filled up with meeting for debrief with our teams, squads, and one on one. Almost every other day I have walked the 30 minute walk to town to do laundry, buy groceries, and enjoy some local fast food.  While at the house each of the teams have a daily chore such as making dinner, cleaning up after dinner, cleaning the bathrooms, etc.  Outside of chores and meetings we do a lot of reading and hanging out.  My new favorite games are speed scrabble and speed ball (this game combines soccer, ultimate Frisbee, and basketball).  I think one may get the wrong impression of The World Race thinking that we are always busy and always experiencing amazing things.  It is true that we are sometimes busy and we do get to experience amazing things, but The World Race is not minute to minute excitement.  It is nice to be in an environment where I sometimes have nothing to fill my time with.  I cannot just fill time with my cell phone or Internet or even TV.  Most of the time I do not miss those distractions.
