I apologize for the lack of blogs over this past week.  Around 75 World Racers (including C Squad that just started the race in June) gathered for debrief.  I was told that we would be debriefing on an island, but I did not believe the rumor until I was on a boat speeding across the ocean waves.  We had five amazing days in the sun on the sand enjoying the beach.  I decided to take a little vacation from writing/blogging this week.

Debrief is always focused around talking about and processing the past month. Thankfully we only had an average of two meetings a day. I spent the rest of the time under an umbrella on the beach, tossing a frisbee, riding waves, chatting with friends, or walking around the island.  There were always women offering a Thai massage and vendors selling fruit, chicken, squid, wraps, and table cloths.  I wonder about how cheap labor wages are for some of the people on the beach.  A Thai massage costs less than $7 for an hour and many of the products being sold we very cheap.

We were treated to a fire show one evening and a boat trip the second evening.  Walking served as my main source of transportation, but others went for mopeds.  I think there were as many mopeds as people on the island, but there were very few cars.

Many of our talks during this debrief centered around what comes after the World Race.  One thing that I will come away with from The World Race is how important relationships are in my life. Living in community with 50 other people has been difficult for sure, but it has also been encouraging and rewarding. This debrief cemented in me the importance of surrounding myself with other believers to life me up.

Tomorrow we have a 12 hour bus ride to Cambodia, and the bus supposedly does not have air conditioning.
