Today we said goodbye to the orphans. As we pulled away I started wondering, “What should my response be to this experience.” I could not help but feeling like I had only been a tourist in the lives of the orphans; I was in and out of their lives so quickly. I know that I am not called to work with orphans the rest of my life, so how can I help them? One thing I know I can do is raise awareness. In fact I think I have to raise awareness after my experience. There are children starved for love, food, safety, and shelter. I want to encourage you to support the organizations and missionaries that are doing something to help the orphaned of the world.
A side note: Jaco took Flor and a couple of the other kids that were sick to a clinic. It was a very simple clinic so they just looked at the kids and gave them medicine. Jaco said it is the best we can do in this area.
