Gibson works at the local Bible College where we painted a
building this month. Our team decided to
take Gibson, his wife, and his four kids to see a movie this evening. We also took two of Ria’s kids, Dylan and
Tommy. Ria has been amazing this month towards
our team. She allowed us to move into
her home when the other American group came and we no longer had a place to
stay. Ria and her husband had church
tonight so we offered to take her kids to the movie too. We got a meal deal for each of the kids and
adults that included popcorn, soda, and candy.
To this day I feel spoiled when I get to have pop-corn and soda at the
theatre. It was such a treat and I know
the kids enjoyed having their own snack.
The older guys went to see Transformers while the girls and younger boys
went to see Shrek 3. Ria’s youngest son,
Dylan, only speaks Afrikans. He kept
talking during the movie and after the movie, but we had no idea what he was
saying. Our lack of response did not
stop him from chatting it up. After the
movie Gibsons wife, Nicolette, thanked us for taking her to the movie, “I have
been to the mall maybe 3 times in the past year, it is really nice to just get
out.” Gibson and his family were so hospitable
while we were at the college, so we really enjoyed being able to show our
appreciation.
