The sides of the roads here mainly do not have sidewalks;
instead they have sandy paths that remind me of the beach. We walked 20 minutes through the sandy paths
to the church this morning where we were served a typical breakfast of eggs and
bread. After breakfast a team went out
into the community to invite people to come to the evening church service. My heart is still longing to be in the mountains
so Clinton allowed me to stay behind to have some alone time with God. I was able to read my Bible and pray to work
through some of my thoughts. This month
is definitely going to be a challenging month for me and I am going to have to
let go of all of my expectations of Peru.
With challenge comes growth so I am not looking forward to the
difficulty of the month, but I am looking forward to the growth as an
outcome.

I talked to a lady from the church that is helping with
meals and with our laundry. Her daughter
has been a missionary in Guatemala for four years. She said when she saw us coming she thought
of her daughter and her heart went out to us and she wanted to do everything
she could for us. Then she added that my
mother would probably do the same thing.
This is similar to the response we have received her in Lima. The people are so happy to have us and are
very willing to serve us and bless us with gifts.

This evening the service was packed out with hundreds of
people. Our team led worship, shared
testimonies, and Jon preached. The crowd
was so encouraging and applauded everything that was shared. About 3 hours later the service ended and we
were able to meet some of the members and children. One little girl sat nearby staring at me but
would turn her head every time I looked over.
Finally I caught her eye and called her over so we could talk. I learned about her family, school, and a
little about her life. As she said
goodbye she gave me a huge hug and did not let go.
