Today was our day off. Unfortunately days off often tend to be the most stressful days of my week. We climbed into a crammed bus for an hour long ride into the city. We hopped off of the bus amid the skyscrapers and walked about a mile to get to Starbucks. I parked myself down in Starbucks and spent a majority of the day on the Internet trying to post blogs, upload pictures, write e-mails and talk to my family on Skype. The connection was not very good so I did not get to talk to my family and the work was slow moving. When I did have free time I walked around the shops in the outdoor mall and looked out over the Pacific Ocean. The outdoor mall sits on a cliff that is a couple hundred feet tall dropping off into the water. It was so refreshing to hear the crashing of the waves and watch them rhythmically come in and go out. I filled my belly with some American Pizza Hut and some Gelato then it was time to take a taxi back to the house. Our taxi driver drove us the 25 minutes back but spent another 15 minutes driving around our district trying to find our house. There are districts in Lima, but only the main streets are named. During the day everything looks similar; at night everything looks impossibly the same so we can’t help the driver out too much. He must have asked about 8 people for directions until we finally made it home.
