Who Am I?
There are a limitless amount of words and responses that could answer that question. For me the immediate word that comes to mind is, daughter.
I am a daughter. He is my Papa, my Daddy. I am His and He is mine. He takes care of me. He holds me and encourages me. He sustains me. In Him I am fearless, joyful, loved, empowered, and full of life.
But wait, then there are those days that I forget I was created and purposed for those things. On these bad days I am helpless, fearful, anxious, and well, just a big mess.
Thankfully He likes me (and YOU) EVEN more in those moments and that’s when I am romanced by Him even the more. I like that He likes my mess.
Oh, yeah you may be wanting to know more about me (since that’s what this is after all) and where that me comes from. My name is Anne-Michael and I was born in a small little town in Kentucky and I wouldn’t change where or how I grew up. Four-wheelers and good home cookin’ to adventures in backyard barns and shucking corn it was all a part of life and I loved it. Since I was little I was the kid who would sit in front of the television and watch a documentary on starving children in Africa and be completely caught up in it. The world and it’s beautiful people intrigued me. Over the years I have found myself in Honduras, China, Thailand, Mozambique and India thus far and I am ready to see what story God unfolds for me!
Some odd end things:
My favorite food is definitely a tie between italian and anything asian. I LOVE the smell of burning wood/leaves. Crafting is my favorite thing to do (it’s like my version of going to a spa and relaxing for the day) which means that I could practically live in Hobby Lobby. I think I was born in the wrong age sometimes because I could listen to jazz/blues music every day, ALL day. Travel wise, just get me to Asia and I am a happy girl. Take me to India and I am on cloud nine (seriously, I am in love with any and everything India). I have one sister that is six years older than me. I love being in airports (especially those times when you have to run to your terminal=pure excitement). College basketball… University of Kentucky…the Greatest College Tradition…need I say more?! I think that should be good for now!
Currently, I work at our local hospital in the Pediatric Therapy unit and I cannot express how much of blessing the kiddos we see everyday are and their courage and strength to press past their circumstances and succeed! I think that God wants us to share that same tenacity for the dreams He has placed in our hearts. Some days those dreams don’t look so near but He wants us to press past those fleeting emotions and see with His eyes.
I pray that for you and me that this year, 2014, would be a year of seeing with His eyes, a new perspective.
