Just yesterday our team arrived back from “The Bush.”

On Monday morning our team left in the back of a pick-up truck with our
contacts, Pastors Carlos and Boloi. We
were heading out for a week to, as Boloi says, REAL AFRICA!

We drove for two hours along a dirt road to a little village named Matidze,
where Boloi is from and currently lives. He calls it the real Africa because there are small huts, no running
water, no electricity, cooking over an open fire and most people have never
seen white people.

My new friend Arleta!!  Our friendship started out with singing ๐Ÿ™‚

When we arrived, we set up our tents and then people started to come over
for a service that night. They sang
their usual upbeat, 20-part harmony, rythmic songs and we preached. I am always so amazed by their singing
abilities. IT IS SO BEAUTIFUL! I always enjoy it!

We spent the week going to various church meetings with pastors from
different churches and people from the village. We went from place to place meeting people, enouraging the Christians
and sharing what we are learning. We
also had a night service on three of the nights and A LOT of children attended!

Each day women came and helped Boloi’s wife cook food for us! The food was so good…they even slaughtered
a goat for us! Wow. They made rice, pop (crushed maize thick
porriage), chicken, casava (very tasty), beans, pumpkin (one of our faves!),
maize cobs and french fries! YES, they
made us french fries and I’m pretty sure they were the best ones I have ever
had ๐Ÿ™‚ They cook everything over a fire
in a little kitchen hut.

Now we are back in our little village living at the mission! We missed our friends here but I am so gald
we went to the bush, and yes it’s true, there are bushes everywhere.

The people there said that it was a miracle that we would visit them. They never thought they would be visted by
people from North America. We realized
that it is also a miracle that we were able to go there. I never imagined visitng these people in the
bush of Mozambique. Thank you God! I feel so incredibly priviledged to have met
our brothers and sisters in the bush. Their joy and love for God and their desire to learn more is so
encouraging to me.

Awesome!! The most encouraging thing
is that I believe that the people we were able to speak with will also teach
others of what they learned. YEAH ๐Ÿ™‚

Look at what they can carry on their heads!

So long,
Enia.
