Hello everyone,
I’m in Mozambique (actually spelled with a ‘c’ here!)
WOW, what a week!
The past week has been intense. Our whole team is spiritually and mentally exhausted! We have been living at a mission and our days have included: leading devotions each morning for the interns who live there, visiting Pastors and part-time teachers, visiting classes, speaking at churches and so much more!
We don’t plan before going to visit people or classes. We simply go and wait to see what God shows us to speak about. It is awesome to see how God is working through us! We have total faith that He will show us how to encourage the believers in this area as we visit. It is stretching and fun!
We really enjoy living at the mission. It is living in true community! Our team has set up our tents and for the first time I AM USING MY TENT!!! I quite like it.
Some local children who like to visit and I saw them outside my tent like this one day ๐
I will share two of my favourite experiences from this week:
Firstly, on Tuesday we went to visit a Pastor at his house. He didn’t know we were coming, but he was so excited when we arrived. With him were 3 other Pastors who were at his house for a meeting that day. They meet only once a month and it just happend to be the day we were there. Then they asked if we would like some tea “sure!!” and then they came out with tea AND salad, fresh bread! They didn’t even eat, they gave it all to us. I think they had it prepared for their meeting. They were all so giving and such great servants. They said they were so blessed from us visitng. We then heard a bit about their lives and we were able to encourage them, but we also were SO ENCOURAGED by our visit with them. AND the Pastor’s wife was there and she has bad eye sight and bad legs and she was going to go to the hospital that morning but decided not to and after we go there she said she knew why she didn’t end up going to the hospital.
My other favourite experience of the week was on Thursday when we went to a church service. We were 3 hours late for it because we were visiting another Pastor, yet they were still so welcoming and excited! At the end of the serivce we all prayed together as one big congregation and we were all standing. During the prayer I felt VERY WEAK and I thought I was going to faint. I was really hungry and I didn’t think I could stand. So, I sat down. After that we then prayed for individuals who came to the front. I prayed for one lady who was sitting the whole time because of her bad legs and she is very old. I prayed for her and once I started to pray for her I didn’t feel weak anymore and I just continued to pray “give this lady strength.” As I was praying for her, I realized that the feeling of weakness I felt before praying for her was probably how she feels all the time. Then I hugged her for about 10 minutes. She said her legs have been hurting but started to feel better last week ๐ After the service we had to race home because we had another class to visit. We told the Pastor that we had to leave to go eat at home and then go to a class. He then said “oh, please come to my house, I’m sure we can find you something to eat and then you can go to the class from here.” So we went to his house and there was a big table set up outside of it and he had chicken and rice prepared for us. Wow!
So, the people of Mozambique have blown me away. Their stories, their joy and their love for us and others!
We bought some cashews on the street ๐ YUMMIE!
sorry, I have to go really quickly. I didn’t get a chance to read over this blog. I hope it makes sense!
