One of the things we have been doing here in Romania is inviting people to
a new church in the nearby city. It is a
nontraditional church and our contact is the Pastor.

Last Saturday we went to church and I expected many people to attend. We have been giving out invitations for this
church for almost 4 weeks now and I expected results. I expected many of our new friends to show
up, I expected the regular attendees to come and I expected some new people
from the week before to come again.

We arrived at church an hour before it started to set up and pray. At 5:00 the service was supposed to
begin. It begun but the only people
present were my team, the Pastor and his wife and child. I thought people were just going to come
late.

Not the case. We started with
reading a few Psalms and then we continued with worship and all 9 of us
worshipped together, which was great. But I still expected the crowds to gather and hear the Good News.

As I was singing I saw a man come in the room! YEAH, Carmen 🙂 We met Carmen last week while playing guitar
on the street inviting people to church. We prayed for him because he has a damaged leg. He then came to church. I was so excited to see him again this
week. Lindsey and I then shared a few
things that we had learned from the Bible and another person came in. Once we finished that man had to leave for an
appointment, so we were back down to one person. Oh well, maybe the message was only supposed
to be for him.

After a while Carmen’s brother and friend came. So now along with my team and the Pastor’s
family there were three homeless people in attendance who smelled like
alcohol. The Pastor proceeded in
preaching and we ended by praying for each person individually. Victor, Carmen’s brother, then wanted to play
my guitar.

He started to play and sing and then all three joined in together and sang
a song in harmony. Then I put the guitar
away because we were going to leave. Carmen too it out and started to play my guitar LEFT HANDED! He was really good too!!

It was a very weird church experience but I believe that God is working in
the lives of those three. I don’t often
know what to expect from God but I love knowing that He has a perfect plan 🙂
