Here’s something you should know about me:
I’m loud.
I’m either talking, singing, listening to music, or generally making some sort of noise if I’m awake. If I’m quiet, I’m either sleeping or dead.
As an extrovert, talking is probably my favorite activity. I’m a verbal processor, and I’m one of those weirdos who loves public speaking. I got to share my testimony in front of 400 high school and college women in November and it was my JAM. I’m also always up for harmonizing to my favorite tunes and belting Disney music as loud as I possibly can. I just love being vocal.
So when my doctor told me last week to be on vocal rest—no singing, public speaking, or general loudness for a week minimum—I might as well have been sentenced to a slow, agonizing death. I had the flu, bronchitis, and a sinus infection and I was not doing myself any favors by being loud.
Well, it’s been a week and my voice is still not better. For reasons unknown to me (and my doctor, who I’ve now seen twice) my throat is swollen and painful despite the medication I’ve been on.
I don’t think it’s a coincidence that all of this happened one day after I made my first round of phone calls to raise support for the Race. The enemy hates that I am trying to raise funds to share the gospel, and he hates that I’m so vocal about Jesus. I’ve had to cancel or reschedule most of my meetings for the past three weeks.
That being said, will you PLEASE PRAY in this moment for healing and for protection against the enemy? He has no place here, and he’s a loser, but he will still try his hardest to thwart the advancement of the Kingdom and silence the gospel. Pray that I will be able to be a good steward of my time and that I will reap a bountiful harvest in fundraising! Pray that I can return to being LOUD for the name and fame of Jesus!
