As 2014 comes to a close, I find myself anxiously peering into the unknown of 2015 with an eager and slightly terrified heart. 2015 is the year. THE year. In nine months I will be stepping on a plane, forsaking the comforts and constants of home for a year in order to further the kingdom of Christ.
September seems a lot closer this side of Christmas. It’s real now. My support letters are stamped and ready to go (get pumped!). The Lord is gearing up to do a super-mega intense work in me through the Race, and while I know I won’t be able to predict how exactly the Lord will use my time on the field, I expect…
- That God will refine and humble me in fantastic, sometimes painful ways
- That I will miss my best friends a booty ton
- To conquer my fear of bugs
- To find out who I am in Christ, as well as my character in tough situations
- To have daily opportunities and choices to be brave for Jesus
- To see some pretty stunning sunsets
- To come to know and understand that this earth, while incredible, is not my home
- To value my time in the Word above anything else
- To face my past and my insecurities dead on and surrender them in freedom to Jesus
- To laugh, dance, weep, sing, and serve as I come to know Abba more deeply
Ultimately, that’s it. The big one. I expect to know my Daddy more intimately at the end of the Race than I do now. I desire so desperately to be desperate for His presence. To banish the alluring chain of comfort and complacency and truly find satisfaction in Him. Oh, to be like You, Jesus. I’d give all I have to know you. Father, have your way in me. Mold me into the likeness of Jesus through the World Race. Blow away my expectations and blow my mind daily with who You are. Thank you for such an incredible calling. You are great and I like you lots! Amen.
