hey everyone!!
wow its been a while! Well let me update y’all on my life…
Life here in Gainesville is just the best. I love it so much. I get to live in community, spend all the time in the world w/ the Lord, laugh the hardest I’ve ever laughed, have late night dance parties, and super impactful conversations.
So almost a month ago, my squad and I packed up our tents and headed to Lake Charles, Louisiana! We partnered w/ Samaritans Purse and did hurricane disaster relief for two weeks. Everyday from 8am-4/5pm we would go into homes that were covered in black mold, had trees through windows and roofs, or just puddled water everywhere. We took down walls, tarped roofs, took down ceilings, scrubbed mold, took screws and nails out of walls and ceilings, and sometimes we had to gut the whole house. Getting the opportunity to serve that community was such a blessing. I got to see the Lord work in ways I’ve never seen before and I learned so much from those two weeks!
If you want to know more about my trip to Louisiana and the work my squad and I did there, text or call me!! I’d love to talk about it!!
Towards the end of our trip in Louisiana, two of my squamates got exposed to covid. They were immediately quarantined and were driven back to Georgia in a separate car than the rest of the squad. However, a few days after we got back to campus in Georgia, some of my squamates started showing symptoms of covid. They got put in isolation but it honestly just seemed like a bad cold. Then the next morning about half of the squad was sick in isolation, so our squad got moved off campus into three different locations (to protect the other squads). The girls without symptoms in one house, the guys without symptoms in one house, and then everyone else who felt sick in another house. Everyone on the squad got tested and three people in the girls healthy house, one guy in the healthy house, and everyone in the sick house tested positive. I was in the healthy house and I tested negative (thanks God), but we have been quarantined since then and we are not allowed back on campus until after thanksgiving break.
Even though it was a huge bummer to be split up as a squad/team and quarantined, I am so thankful because I have gotten time to rest and be super intentional with the Lord.
On a really exciting note…
