Okay just a warning I’m a newbie to the blog world, and I’m an accounting major.. so this whole writing thing is probs gonna be a little rough. So I guess I’ll start off by telling y’all I literally had zero clue what I was getting my self into for the World Race training camp.  I signed up after the deadline for the race, and if any of y’all know me or my family that isn’t really surprising, and of course I didn’t do my research about training camp, but thankfully a lot of my teammates did so I got caught up to speed pretty quickly once I arrived.

Training camp was quite an experience. It had of a lot of different scenarios that we could be involved in on the race, such as airport nights, lost luggage, and learning how to improvise with the team for when different issues might come up out on the field. Training camp also involved bucket showers, and lots of port-a-potties. We got some cultural experience with different themed days based on countries around the world, and got to taste all the different foods along with it.  I definitely feel more prepared for the world after all the crazy things we experienced in good ole Gainesville, GA.

Training camp also introduced me to all the people on my squad that I will be spending the next year with, and let me tell y’all, God is freaking good, if you didn’t already know that. For reals though.  The people on my squad are incredible and I am so excited to learn from them and to grow with them. Seriously didn’t know it was possible to grow so close with a group of people in only 10 days. I can’t even imagine how much closer we are going to get over the next 11 months!

However, the best part about training camp was how I got to bond with my teammates and grow even closer in my walk with the Lord. At training camp we learned a lot about the importance of being real about our struggles and to be open. We are human and we can only make it through this crazy broken world with our Savior. One of the major things I took away from training camp is learning how to forgive myself for the mistakes I’ve made. I’ve known for a long time that the Lord has forgiven me and I am so grateful for that, but to truly experience freedom I have to forgive myself.  I also have to love myself just as Christ does because I am His creation. This has also has helped me in learning how to feel the father’s love and that he truly values me for me. I was raised in the church so I always “knew” this was true, but now I’m learning to truly FEEL it and I am so excited to see how my relationship with Lord continues to grow over the next year.

God is so faithful and now I’m trusting in him to help provide my funds for this amazing opportunity with these incredible people!
