Pura Vida! Costa Rica has been incredible. This country is gorgeous. It also strangely reminds me of America. They actually have traffic laws, the public buses actually are made for American sized people, and people love their pets here. They also even have WALMART.  Costa Rica has been such a great place to dive into the Central American culture.

This month my team and I have been living with a sweet woman named June and pup Rocky. She teaches English at a women’s prison here, and at a local school on the weekends. We have had a variety of ministry here from teaching English to manual labor. The first week we got to work at the prison painting the maximum-security section. We got to work alongside a few prisoners that had work privileges, and we really loved getting to know them. We also have visited the school a few times a week to help with English class, and then we have also worked alongside a local church here doing a lot of yard work and manual labor around the church grounds.

This month my team and I have been so blessed with our living conditions. We all have beds, a full kitchen to use, and the best part a REAL washer and dryer. We also have access to actually working wifi. All of this has been such a blessing but it can also be a major distraction. I have learned that making time for God has to be a priority and He’s not going to force our relationship so I have to make sure I don’t let social media and Netflix get in the way of my quality time with Him. This month has been so great getting to know my new teammates and explore this beautiful country.
