Oh, Nicaragua. This place is gorgeous. I know I say that about every country but seriously the sunsets and sunrises are the prettiest I’ve ever seen. Also, the food is so stinkin’ good here. All we ever eat on the race is rice, but out here there is something magical about some cheese and beans thrown into the rice cause its bomb.

This month my team and I have been living in Ciudad Dario, Nicaragua. Our ministry this month has been with Light and Salt Ministries. Light and Salt is a community center with programs for boys ages 8-15. They come for half the day and get bible classes, English classes, sports classes, art classes, and math classes throughout the week. Our team has been serving Light and Salt all month doing various tasks. We teach English, Sports, and Art classes throughout the week, while also helping with administrative tasks around the facility as needed. We also have been serving our host who is the founder and head of the program by helping out around her house and with her sweet daughter as needed.

This month has been an interesting one as our time on the race is winding down. We only have one month left, so it has been challenging to stay fully focused on our ministry here and not start preparing for the things coming up at home. The Lord has been so good this past year and this is exactly where I am supposed to be. He has taught me so much and I can’t wait to take it home, but he has also been reminding me to stay in his presence out here and find the joy in it because it’s going to be over before I know it. Also worrying about tomorrow is pointless as the bible says over and over. So I have really had to make a conscious effort this month to be here and be invested, and it has been so worth it. I will never forget this beautiful place or these sweet kiddos.
