Oh man where do I begin. Madagascar you have blown me away. Of course after last month in Swazi being so great, I was like oh I’m def gonna end up back in the bush for Madagascar. This is the World Race, it can’t be too cush. Wrong. You think I would learn by now to not have expectations after the surprise of the last two countries, but of course it takes me longer than Africa time (it’s a real thing I promise) to ever get a clue. For reals though, Madagascar is beautiful. The people, the weather, the food, all of it are so great.

This month we are spending in the capital city Antananarivo, which I still can’t even pronounce. We are staying at a community center in the city, so we all get beds this month and have lots of showers. To top it off right outside my door is not just one basketball court, but TWO whole basketball courts. God is so great.

Our squad this month is working with Operation Mobilization (OM) Madagascar. I wish I could tell you more about who they are but I couldn’t really understand/hear very well in our orientation meeting. I can tell you that OM is awesome though and they have been taking great care of us. OM basically has contacts all around the city, with different churches, schools, and villages, so they assigned our different teams to work with these organizations, and they provide translators to work with us at these locations.

My team has been assigned to work with a Protestant church for the first two weeks, and then we are working in a school nearby for our last week. So far these past two weeks have been awesome. Everyday we were doing different things. We would do manual labor in the church, like sanding down the church pews, to home visits of church members. We also got to visit several English clubs and teach in those, and we also were able to link up with a local orphanage through the church as well. Next week it sounds like we will be doing some teaching and some manual labor at the school with the little kiddos, which I am looking forward to.

God has continued to show us His faithfulness this month just through all the different people we have met and their testimonies. God is so good and loves us so much. This month for me God has really been growing me to release all control and trust Him. I am praying and trying as hard as I can to do that because I do know He will come through greater than I can imagine down the road.
