Okay, look…
Discipline is not my middle name. It’s not my forte. It’s not something I do well.
But this month, it’s gonna happen.
I have this really bad habit of biting off more than I can chew (hello, semester that I took 27 credit hours, worked two jobs and two internships…). I start a lot of things, and then I don’t finish them. Once, in my Freshman year of college, I contacted my church asking if they needed any volunteers in the design area, because I wanted to get involved. I received an answer back saying something along the lines of “yes! We would love some help! You can do this and this. Once you’re done, just send it to us. No deadline!” I saw “no deadline” and immediately knew that I was never going to get this done, and I never contacted them again… I know, I’m the worst (But it may have been for the best for that church… let’s just say my design skills weren’t prime when I was a freshman).
I love deadlines and accountability. That is something do well. But when it comes to self-governance… let’s just say I will never be a full-time freelance designer.
This month, I decided is would be a month of discipline. The schedule is actually perfect for it! We have mornings free, so I can be disciplined in being active. We have down time, so I can be diligent in posting blogs, spending time in the Word, and catching up on reading. And we’re far away from town, and I’m broke, so I can be more responsible with my finances.
Yes, this is all circumstantial discipline, and next month probably won’t be anything like this month, but I’ve decided to take advantage of it. One of my goals is to be a much more disciplined person when I get home. It’ll be more difficult in the States. There’ll be much more distractions, but Luke 16:10 says:
One who is faithful in a very little is also faithful in much, and one who is dishonest in a very little is also dishonest in much.
So that’s my prayer, that the Lord increases my faithfulness in the things I set my mind to, and in the things I commit to others to
