HI!! I’m Anna! In September 2018, I will be traveling to Swaziland, India, and Guatemala on World Race Gap Year! I could NOT be more excited, and I am so grateful to be able to share the journey with you through this blog.

I am 17 years old and I am from metro-Detroit, Michigan. God has blessed me with an amazing mom and dad who are happily married, as well as three sisters who also happen to be my best friends. I am so close with my family and I will miss them like crazy when I’m gone, but having their support means the world to me.

I am absolutely, head-over-heels in love with Jesus!! He has been shaping me and my desires ever since I chose to follow Him in fifth grade. He has allowed me the privilege of leading bible study at my school since 7th grade, He has carried me through a season of heartbreak and lost friendships, He has sent me and my family to Spain to do missions for six weeks, He has sent me and my youth group to Haiti for short-term missions, and He exposed my family to the world of foster care a year and a half ago. Initially intending to foster young boys, God quickly showed us He had something different in mind, so we pursued fostering and adopting a 16 year old girl! Seeing the ways that God works when we surrender all to Him has been life-changing and life-giving, so I am constantly craving intimate, spontaneous, adventurous seasons with my Father! He has broken my heart for the physically and spiritually impoverished, and I can’t wait to see how He continues to  teach and use me on the race.

My passion is worship ministry, as well as anything and everything creative! I love to sing, paint, play instruments (ukulele and guitar), write, and be in God’s beautiful creation. I can’t wait to see more of this world He made! I also love being active and I seriously LOVE people! Just getting to know them and hear their stories is so invigorating to me! As far as my struggles, I have anxiety that has flared up here and there since first grade. I have also dealt with insecurities and find those feelings to re-occur at times in my life. I also find that I end up getting really busy really fast, which stresses me out and wears me out. I would really appreciate prayers for peace and surrender while I’m preparing for/on the race, as well as an understanding that I am beautiful because of what Jesus says, and truly knowing that none of my feelings or anyone else’s opinions can ever change that. I can’t wait to see how God reveals Himself to me, and I am forever humbled that He desires relationship with me (and YOU!). Thank you so much for taking the time to read this! I pray that God will use my blog posts to strengthen your faith and bless your day. All Glory to Him!

Blessings,

Anna Goward!
