We are a week into month 6 of the Race, about half way in. How am I half done already?? What?!! The days are long but the months are short.

We are currently in Jeffrey’s Bay, South Africa working with an organization called Global Leadership Academy.

In the mornings, we help with manual labor tasks such as sanding, scraping paint, and treating logs. In the afternoons, we help with a program called Beats and Books. Beats and Books strives to give the kids an intellectual, musical, and spiritual experience. There are 20 kids in the program ranging between the ages of 7 to 16. We start with worship and then lead into literacy games, musical lessons, and tutoring.

Here’s the cool part: I get to teach violin! Some of the music lessons consist of beginner violinists. Their violin teacher is currently absent in Canada for a period of time so the students have been trying to teach and practice by themselves. They told me they’ve been praying for a violin teacher and I am an answer to their prayers! That’s pretty cool. The funny part is that I’ve been recently missing playing violin, and it found me in South Africa! What are the odds of that? God is cool in that he can fulfill a need that these students had and can also fulfill a desire of my heart to play some violin again. God sees even the littlest desires of your heart and he delights in fulfilling them.

Please pray that God would use me to improve these violinists and build relationships here in JBay. I’ve never taught violin before so it is a learning process!

Next order of business: fundraising. I just want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone that has donated, whether it be once, twice, three times, or monthly giving. If I could give all of you a hug and a candy bar, I would!

At this point, I am 83% funded. I need $2,985 more to reach the goal. Because I am past the deadline of being fully funded, I need to take a day off of ministry each week until I am fully funded to work on fundraising. I don’t enjoy removing myself from ministry, especially now that I am trying to teach violin everyday, but it is a necessary part of becoming fully funded.

As my main form of support, I would appreciate prayers for fundraising from all of you. Also, prayerfully considering donating again, prayerful search for people to tell about your friend/niece/daughter/granddaughter/acquaintance/friend of a friend that is on a mission to serve the Lord and His people and she needs your help!

I can only do so much from across the ocean. Your connections that you have could be the next step I need to becoming fully funded. If anyone comes to your mind, take a step of faith and tell them about me. If someone comes to your mind, you can also give me their contact information so I could reach out to them.

You all are a part of my journey because you helped get me here. You continue to be a part of this mission as you pray for me and God’s people. You are a soldier in God’s army. I am a warrior in South Africa, you are a warrior in the United States. We are all on mission every day of our lives no matter where you are. Please step out in courageous faithfulness and continue fighting for me to be here.
