Here is a collection of Psalms that I have written over the course of my Race. Psalms are a song to God, a method of communion and worship. They can be written by anyone and about anything. Tell God what you’re feeling, good or bad. Bring your praises, thanksgivings, requests, frustrations, disappointments, anything at all and lay them at His feet. What is the point of hiding from a God who sees everything? Try writing your own Psalm!
Oh God, how you gift me
Your boundless love runs wild
Who am I that your thoughts consist of me?
Your creation reflects the inner workings of your mind
How your stars sparkle and smile with curiosity
The galaxies emanate your amazing artistry
How much more so do I then?
A speck on a speck
The only speck you are mindful of out of billions
You freely give your love a billion different ways
Your hand gently caresses me by the wind
Your song swiftly reaches me by the chirps of the crickets
You whisper in my ear by the crashing of waves on the shore
Your reassurance reaches me through the grasp of a child
The power of your communication is evident
I will give thanks to you while you supply breath to my lungs
Desire and revelation you will provide
You, O Lord, have clung to me
Like an anchor to a boat
Like a root to a weed
When I desire to stray
You pull me closer
When I unattach myself from the world
You attach me to you
Thou I walk without emotion
Without a thought, good or bad
You fix my mind on your goodness
On your mercies, on your love
Who would I turn to if you weren’t there?
Who would listen to me and know my sorrows better than you do?
You delight in knowing me,
In wrapping me in the shadow of your wings
Even in your shadow there is light
The vastness of your influence, I’ll never know
The reasons you love me, I’ll never understand
Lord I come to you
Here am I
On my knees
Palms up
Heart open
Speak, Lord, and grant me this:
Desire to know you
Obedience to serve you
Love to exemplify you
Valleys to depend on you
Mountains to worship you
Fill me. Fill me to overflow
Until it shines on my faces
Until it pours out of my heart
Grant me fullness in you
Amen
Your sun shines brilliantly
The dawn brings a new day
You paint the skies with a skilled hand
Your clouds like golden popcorns
Warm my soul with your rays
Purify my heart by your power
Empty me of myself
And fill me again with only you
Lord, my cup is empty
Fill me to overflow
Great and powerful is your love
From vessel to vessel you travel
Use me to proclaim your good works
May boldness fill my spirit
For you are worth every valley
For your love, I would walk through a desert
To find a fount
And to fill my cup to overflow
The War is waging, Lord
A battle unseen
The tempests temp
And the evil ones plot
Deliver me, lord, from my demons
Build my battle fronts
Empower my mightiest warriors
For you lord are the only source of strength
I look to you to strategize a win
Empower me and strengthen me
So that when those moments come
I may be ready
Let no foe overcome your spirit power living in me
Let no power live in me except the power of your love
And when my victories are won,
May I bow my head to the ground
In awe and praise to you
