We have now made it to Kyrgyzstan and I am about to move to another team. On my last day with my current team, we walked through the city praying. During these times of prayer, we ask the Lord for key words that will turn into a divine appointment – we refer to this as treasure hunting.
After a time of worship, we began our prayer walk while looking for the clues for our divine appointment. Vielka and I were paired together. We both got the word ‘park’; she got the word ‘tree’ and I got the word ‘red’. I also brought a little girl’s dress we were given to give away.
We did not know exactly what all this meant, so we started walking until we came upon a park. We stopped under some trees to talk. As I remembered the dress I had brought, I saw a girl who was playing in the park.
V and I decided to approach the mom to see if we could give the girl the dress. We learned that the daughter’s name was Glory and her son’s name was Samuel. I began to wonder if she was a Christian. As we talked, she told us that she was a Christian. We then realized that she was worshipping God as we approached her.
She told us about her brother (who is not a Christian) was persecuting her regarding her beliefs. However, she has chosen to forgive and love anyway. We prayed about the situation with her and then prayed for her. What an awesome conversation and a great time to strengthen her faith.
We encouraged her that whenever her daughter wears the dress to remember our conversation and know how much God loves her and her family. Our final prayer was that each time Glory wears the dress she will feel the love of God.
In moments like these, I am reminded of how much God loves us and is pursuing us. It all started with a little flower dress and ended with God telling his daughter she is not forgotten.
How all the words came to life:
‘Park’ – was the location,
‘Red’ – there was a red pavilion at the park
‘Trees’ – we were under the trees when we noticed the girl
‘A girls dress’ – a great way to start a conversation with the mother
Sometimes at first, it does not make sense. However, when we continue to walk out what He tells us it all fits together to paint a beautiful picture. I love serving a God who cares about every detail.
