God already knew I was going to go on the World Race before I even heard about this organization or knew anything about the World Race. This realization came to me when we arrived in our assigned city for the month (Semarang, Indonesia). This month is “ATL (Ask the Lord) Month”. Let me explain how it works. At the beginning of the month, we are assigned a people group and a city for ministry. That’s it! That is all we know! At that point, we are to “ask the Lord” for His plan for our group. We pray about our accommodations, transportation, connections with ministry groups and His ministry plan while we are in that city. And that is when God came and showed our team He had it already planned out for us!
When I went to Christ for the Nations (CFNI), one semester I had a roommate from Indonesia. Her name is Sara and she would tell me about her country. As I listened, I thought it would be so cool to go there one day. We even talked about meeting up if I was close to where she lived. Well guess where she lives – Semarang, Indonesia! WOW! God already knew – that I would join World Race and that I would be assigned to the city of Semarang. God already knew and had made all the arrangements – it was all planned out!
Sara moved back to Indonesia after graduating from CFNI and her dad is a Pastor of a local church in Semarang. We have been able to partner with the church to do Home Church Ministry (similar to a small group meeting in people’s homes), helping with Kid’s Church and helping with whatever else needs to be done. It has been an amazing time seeing how God had it all planned out for our team. Just think, even before I thought about going on this trip God already knew and planned it in advance.
This is a picture of Sara and me at an Indonesian wedding. I love how God has connected us and that I am able to minister the love of God with her, first at CFNI and now in her country. I am so thankful to call her my friend. She is a loving, caring, fun and talented woman of God. She has such a strong passion for God that she shares with everyone and as she sings you can sense the anointing on the songs. She is a fiery woman of God and we have been so very blessed by the way she has helped us. She has been our translator while we are preaching and has been an amazing host for us while we have been here.
It’s cool to see how God lays out His plan for us and all we have to do is just step into it. Then as we do, we begin to see more and more of His plan. I love that God is taking what I learned from my time at CFNI and using it on the World Race. God knows where we are going to be. He knows what we are going to be doing. He has it all planned out so we don’t have to worry about it. It’s amazing to see how He takes different parts of my life and knits it together for His purpose. Let me close by encouraging you that God has you in his hands and He has it all planned out for you as well.
