I’m going to try anyway.

Our team is living in a little village in the north of Rwanda, with stunning views around us (the country is known for its thousands of hills). We live next door to our host who is a pastor and a single mother. Our other neighbors include a cow Kristen named Daisy, a mangy dog, a baby goat Lee named Franklin, and dozens and dozens of kids and their families.

Our ministry looks a little different everyday:

Sunday we preach and lead Sunday school at church (which goes 9am to 1pm). African worship is something else y’all! It’s beautiful and nothing will stop this church from worshipping! Not even when it’s storming and the church starts flooding.

Tuesday’s we teach at the primary school in the morning and preach at the minister’s service in the afternoon.

Wednesday we teach again in the morning and do door to door evangelism in the afternoon.

Thursday we do construction (helping to build more church and school buildings)….this sounds really impressive, but really it’s just us hauling bricks from one place to another. Thursday is also a deliverance service in the afternoon, a sort of encouraging worship service for the congregation.

Friday is hospital ministry! We bus to a nearby facility and pray over people: new mothers, expecting mothers, those needing treatment, everyone. Friday afternoons is sports ministry! So that looks like the Rwandans absolutely crushing us in soccer.

So all in all, the quiet village life is simple, beautiful, joyful, and all about making relationships. African hospitality is UNREAL. These people love to make ya feel at home…and we do here! Our team is loving it and we don’t even want to think about leaving this place in two weeks.
