1. Ministry is life and life is ministry. This is a phrase we’ve been hearing since training camp last October, but it’s never been as relevant as this month. Your “ministry” time might be over, but there will still be kids hanging outside your room at all hours, waiting to play with you or watch you when you work out.

  2. The simple village life is the good life. You can walk everywhere, it’s super safe, and everyone is so friendly and hospitable.

  3. It’s all about relationships. Every aspect of this month has been relational: with out host (the amazing Pastor Fatier), our interpreter John, members of the church, our neighbors, the children, even the people who we purchase our bus tickets from. Whenever we walk through the village going to church, the kids will see us and come barreling at us saying “bye bye bye bye!!” and coming over to hug us. It’s precious.

  4. Rwandan worship is like nothing else. I don’t even know how to describe it. It lasts for hours, people are dancing, it’s spontaneous…. It’s beautiful. It’s just something you have to experience.

  5. Despite all these awesome things, I’m finding it hard to remain present. We’re just past the halfway mark, and everyone is thinking and talking about “what’s next” after the Race. I’m no exception. I want to be present, but my planning self is wanting to research jobs/cities/apartments/cars…..everything.
